Leadership Franklin County is a program of the Ottawa Area Chamber of Commerce. In partnership with Neosho County Community College and Ottawa University, LFC offers a structured leadership development program that:
Identifies and cultivates leadership skills.
Creates awareness of challenges and opportunities in our communities.
Inspires participants to embrace the responsibilities of providing leadership.
Encourages action and involvement to enhance the quality of life in Franklin County.
The selection process for LFC is competitive. Class size is limited. Our program is open to all residents and employees of businesses in Franklin County. There are no prerequisites for the program, and all leadership experience levels are welcome.

Leadership Franklin County provides a comprehensive nine-month program that requires:
Selection, development and completion of at least eight hours of a community service opportunity (This requires additional time and effort outside of class sessions).
Attendance at two public meetings, two civic meetings and two Ottawa Area Chamber of Commerce events (e.g., school board, city commission, county commission, Rotary, Optimist Club, Chamber Coffee). Two of these meetings or events must be outside of your home city. A list will be available at orientation. This requirement must be completed by April 18 to qualify for graduation.
Participation is required in all class sessions. Sessions are full days, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
What Sponsors Provide
Participants in Leadership Franklin County can be sponsored by their employer, civic group or organization or be self-sponsored. The 2019-20 tuition is $450 per class member. This fee includes instructor costs, materials, travel, lunches, and refreshments. Financial assistance is available.
